{"id":172,"date":"2011-04-08T09:01:32","date_gmt":"2011-04-08T16:01:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/billzarchy.com\/blog\/blog\/?p=172"},"modified":"2024-04-09T17:47:11","modified_gmt":"2024-04-10T00:47:11","slug":"nab-2011-show-preview","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/billzarchy.com\/blog\/nab-2011-show-preview\/","title":{"rendered":"NAB 2011: Show Preview"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignnone size-full wp-image-298\" src=\"http:\/\/billzarchy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/NAB2011Preview\/Canon-Super-35mm.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"384\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The National Association of Broadcasters annual trade show takes place next week at the Las Vegas Convention Center.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll be in Vegas for a couple of days to check out the new cameras, among other things, and I&#8217;ll post several reports from there.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some announced\/rumored items I&#8217;ll be checking out:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sony is expected to show a prototype for the next (and most advanced) addition to their Cine Alta line, a camera for digital cinematography with a sensor greater than 4K. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fdtimes.com\/news\/sony\/new-sony-camera-4k-and-beyond\/\">Jon Fauer, in an article in Film and Digital Times, says the new camera will shoot from 1-72 fps in normal mode, and 1-120 fps in High Frame Rate mode.<\/a> It boasts a Super 35 3-perf size CMOS sensor with the staggering dimensions of 8768 x 2324 pixels (20.4 Megapixels), a PL mount, and 16-bit 16:8:8 RAW output.<\/li>\n<li>At the other end of the affordability scale, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dpreview.com\/news\/1103\/11032310sonynexfs100.asp\">Sony is showing the NEX-FS100E<\/a>, which uses the same Exmor Super 35 CMOS sensor as in their new <a href=\"http:\/\/billzarchy.com\/blog\/blog\/?p=159\">PMW-F3 camera, which I discussed in an earlier post<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Plus, Sony is expected to exhibit a <a href=\"http:\/\/broadcastengineering.com\/products\/sony-unveils-professional-3-d-camcorder-20110308\/\">3D\/2D switchable shoulder-mount XDCAM HD camcorder<\/a> with two 1\/2-inch 3CMOS sensors.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eoshd.com\/content\/593-Canon-at-NAB-2011-Sony-s-lucky-number\">Canon might show a video camera with a large sensor and interchangeable lenses<\/a>, like their popular 5D Mark II, but with a more usable viewing system and better processing capabilities for video.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hdwarrior.co.uk\/2011\/04\/01\/canon-35mm-nab-2011-show-stopper\/\">HD Warrior says this NAB Show-Stopper<\/a> is rumored to be in the works from Canon<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hdwarrior.co.uk\/2011\/04\/01\/canon-35mm-nab-2011-show-stopper\/\">.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Canon should also be announcing a new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eoshd.com\/content\/603-Canon-link-with-Technicolor-for-new-DSLR-video-features\">Technicolor CineStyle log profile for the 5D Mark II and other EOS DSLRs.<br \/>\n<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Panasonic will show\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sportsvideo.org\/main\/blog\/2011\/02\/23\/nab-2011-panasonic-ups-commitment-to-3d\/\">the new AG-3DA1 3D camcorder with a low-cost solid-state P2 deck, 9-inch monitor and 3D switcher input card<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Panasonic is also expected to show the prototype of a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eoshd.com\/content\/587-AF100-successor-expected-to-be-revealed-at-NAB\">new camera, possibly a successor to their current AF100 model<\/a>, which was introduced a few months ago.<\/li>\n<li>Jim Jannard at Red\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/reduser.net\/forum\/showthread.php?40067-Thoughts-and-Tips...&amp;p=713251#post713251\">has promised a &#8220;big surprise&#8221; at NAB<\/a> this year.<\/li>\n<li>Arri will showcase the latest achievements, new developments, and accessories and geegaws for their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arridigital.com\/\">Alexa digital motion picture camera<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  alignnone size-full wp-image-298\" src=\"http:\/\/billzarchy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/NAB2011Preview\/alexa1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"228\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Association of Broadcasters annual trade show takes place next week at the Las Vegas Convention Center.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll be there for a couple of days to check out the new cameras, among other things, and I&#8217;ll post several reports from there.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some announced\/rumored items I&#8217;ll be taking a close look at:<\/p>\n<p>A prototype for the next (and most advanced) addition to Sony&#8217;s Cine Alta line, a new camera for digital cinematography with a sensor greater than 4K.
